HOW DO WE MAKE THIS HAPPEN?
Our pieces are designed incorporating traditional techniques from local communities in a beautiful, useful, and durable way. We choose to focus on processes that are not harmful to our environment, and respectful to our community.
HERE ARE THE WAY WE ARE LEARNING AND EXPLORING:
NATURAL & ORGANIC TEXTILES
We work with a variety of fabrics, from organic cotton and pineapple textiles to cassava fiber bags and coconut shell buttons. All our fabrics are either organic, natural, recycled, or biodegradable and meet international sustainability standards. Every choice is made to minimize our footprint.
NON-TOXIC FABRIC DYES
Toxins from unnatural colours pollute the rivers and oceans, while textiles release microfibers from being produced and washed. We avoid synthetic and chemical colors entirely. Instead, we use natural dyes crafted locally from Indonesia’s abundant natural resources.
CIRCULAR & INCLUSIVE
We ethically produce our pieces in Bali, Lombok, and nearby islands, collaborating with local artisans. Our approach fosters inclusive growth, allowing communities to benefit directly from the creative process.
HONORING LOCAL HERITAGES
We are inspired by the knowledge and sustainable practices of Indonesia’s indigenous communities. Their ancient ways of crafting offer profound lessons in how to live and create in harmony with nature. We aim to honor and integrate these traditions into KARMAFREE designs.

While printing typically has a small environmental footprint, we continue to explore ways to minimize it further. We’ve embraced traditional Indonesian batik printing, which produces no waste, and are actively researching other eco-friendly alternatives.
